Retreat Reflection Questions:
Where in the world are you looking to travel?
Do you prefer hot? Tropical? By the beach? Inland? Do you want something not too far from your home country? Location is so very important when choosing a retreat. Take some time learning about different countries, the culture, the people, nature ahead of time and try to find something that interests you. Don’t just make the trip about the retreat, immerse yourself in where you decide to go. Many retreats integrate the culture, food, and historical sites into their retreats, so find somewhere that you feel would interest you. Research what the weather is like at that time of year and whether or not you want something inland or along a nice hot beach. Keep in mind too, that after the retreat is over, you can do some exploring on your own if you have time, so find a place that really interests you.

What type of extra activities are you wanting to include?
Hiking? Horseback riding? Massage? Biking? Diving? Each retreat offers something different. On each of our retreat listings, the retreats list what other activities are offered at the retreat. Most retreats will have time slots during the day where you can go and do your own thing. Perhaps you are interested in the surrounding area and would like to organize a day hike. Maybe you are feeling tired and need to wind down and a day at the spa would be the perfect treat. This gives you the opportunity to explore the country a little bit more and experience the culture when you indulge in other activities outside the retreat. What is your budget?
Yes, this is a pretty important one. For some of you, this might not be an issue, but for the majority, we all have some sort of budget range of what we would like to spend. This is also why we have such a large, diverse, selection of retreats at all different prices. Even though some retreats might cost less than others, we can guarantee that you will still have quality time.
Are you looking for something where you are part of a group or would you prefer something where you are more solo?
Perhaps you are traveling on your own for the first time and don’t feel that ambition to travel alone. Maybe a group setting is more of your thing. Or maybe you have had enough of society and need to find that quiet meditation retreat at the top of the mountains where no one can bother you. Or perhaps you need a mix of both. Retreat hosts are pretty flexible at accommodating the needs of their guests. Even if you do attend a group retreat, you still have the option to spend time alone or wander off and do a day trip on your own. Either way, take into consideration how much alone time you need, or how much socialization time you need.
What length of time are you looking to get away for?
Perhaps you only have a week or two to spend on your retreat. Maybe you only have time for a weekend getaway. Or maybe you are one of those lucky ones who have a whole month off to go spend at some surf camp with absolutely no agenda. We have a diverse mix of retreats that have set dates and retreats that are open year long. Maybe you just need that weekend getaway, or. just maybe, you are soon to become one of the locals.
If you were to describe your ideal retreat teacher/host in three words, what would they be? Adventurous? Fun? Wise? Funny? Knowledgable? Tranquil? Chill? Warm? Trendy? Cool? Wild? The list goes on and on, but you know what we are getting at.
