Why do I love Retreats, more specifically yoga retreats? Because I get to get away for at least a week and reconnect with my body. I give the time to myself I really need, and I am able to sit in my thoughts and see which thoughts are no longer serving me. It’s the time to reflect and heal. Here I tell you How Yoga Changed My Life.
After attending an intensive yoga retreat, I was able to go much deeper into my practice. If I hadn’t of had this experience, I would not have been motivated enough, disciplined enough, or had any idea of what I would gain from having a daily practice.
What did I learn? I know that I can always come back to my practice when I need to feel grounded, when I can’t keep up with life, or when my anxiety wears me down. I can take control of my worrying thoughts by reminding myself to breathe and that I am safe within my body. All of my problems are just manifestations of thoughts repeated over and over and over…..
If I hadn’t of gone on this intensive retreat, I doubt I would have ever given myself the time to really look into parts of me where I still struggle, and learn that not only can I release these struggles mentally, I can let them go physically.
Having a daily practice has really changed my life. I feel much stronger in my body and mind and all the lessons I have taken from ancient scriptures, amazing teachers, sitting in my own thoughts, have really helped me through some of darkest times.
I know that retreats are quite a trendy thing at the moment, and being a bit of a “rebel” when it comes to these kinds of things, I do think this is one trend worth following. Especially in this day and age when we get so caught up in this fast-paced, technological, rat race. Give yourself the time, place and space to wind down, relax, and enjoy some time for yourself and this is ways that how yoga changed my life.
